Amanda, I like to use jarred prepared horseradish for this but you could always use freshly grated if you like. There’s plenty of brands out there depending on where you live.

The reviews for this recipe are so full of spam I couldn’t find other variations others have tried. This drink was good despite that it had quite a lot of horseradish. Next time I will halve horseradish and add some lemon juice. Great jumping off point though thanks!
